The City of Hauser and Kootenai County have scheduled a public meeting to share information on a zoning amendment that would grandfather in the ability for certain smaller parcels to have building permits.
The change would address a conflict that arose after the city and county jointly adopted an Area of City Impact (ACI) Agreement in 2020 that brought the ACI zoning in line with the county’s zoning. In the process of bringing the ACI zoning under the county’s zoning, about 50 properties inadvertently became potentially non-conforming.
“Under county code, building permits could no longer be issued for some of the smaller properties,” said David Callahan, Kootenai County’s Community Development Director. “The purpose of the amendment is to ensure that any parcel that was eligible for building permits prior to 2020 will continue to be eligible for building permits in the future.”
A public informational meeting on the proposed amendment is set for 5 p.m. February 22 at the Hauser Fire Station, 10728 N. Hauser Lake Road. The meeting will also be broadcast via Zoom.
